Arizona New Teacher Induction Network
Focus on what matters most with your beginning teachers to move the needle on student outcomes. The Arizona New Teacher Induction Network invites teams that support induction and mentoring in their district to enhance their work by engaging in professional learning and collaboration.
This year’s Arizona New Teacher Induction Network brings together new teacher induction teams from across the state to learn from each other, TNTP, Dr. Doug Fisher, and the Arizona K12 Center. Focusing especially on coherence, participants will explore induction best practices and multi-tiered support. A team of two, including the program lead, is required, but a team of four is encouraged. As this network works toward supporting powerful changes within a school system, we also recommend each team includes an administrator or other decision-maker.
With TNTP, district teams will explore The Opportunity Makers, TNTP’s published research on what schools do that truly impacts student learning. We will dive into the three areas that TNTP found to have the most significance in catching students’ up to grade level:
Dr. Doug Fisher, renowned educator and author of dozens of books including Onboarding Teachers and Welcome to Teaching, will further expand on those focus areas and take participants through several sessions, diving into the foundations of onboarding and induction. This will include exploring culture and climate, intentional instruction and instruction design, long-term planning, teacher clarity, and how to monitor and support learning in new teachers’ classrooms.
This five-part series, including four in-person days and one virtual session, will also include cross-team sharing and structured goal-setting around your system’s professional learning support for beginning teachers.
Success Criteria for the Arizona New Teacher Induction Network include:
